Search optimizations
I led the design of the search experience, designing and developing a series of optimizations and new features that improved the overall search experience across verticals that can be seen in Shutterstock products today, which have had a positive impact on user engagement and conversion.
Filter optimization
I undertook a complete redesign of the search filters, moving it from a collapsible side navigation into an inline top menu. This change aimed to improve usability and make the overall search results page cleaner and less dense.
The problems were identified through user feedback, and the solutions were validated by a series of user testing sessions and post-launch metrics.
Mobile version
As part of an initiative to introducing AI into Shutterstock products, the Search development team created a brand new feature to help users to identify the best asset for their needs: we introduced a new module on the asset detail page to provide insights on how unique and often used an image is. This feature helps users to find more unique images for their work, avoiding an overly “stock” feel in their projects.
On the business side, this feature also increased downloads for assets with low activity; decreasing a download gap on the platform and boosting new contributors. This resulted in a positive revenue impact for the business.
Contributor gallery
Contributors are a key factor for the success of Shutterstock’s business. As part of an initiative to move the entire platform from an old technology stack and adopt a brand new design system, I worked with multiple teams to upgrade the contributor gallery to the new UI, adding a completely new look and feel to the site. This project aimed to promote Shutterstock’s contributors and allow them to better showcase their work, and consequently add more value to the platform.
This work started with a Design Sprint in Shutterstock’s HQ in NYC, bringing experts from all areas together to collaborate and generate ideas for the new gallery. During and after the workshop, we tested our designs with both contributors and end users to validate our hypotheses. The output of this work was a brand new contributor gallery, broken down into release phases. The ultimate outcome was an increase in contributors on the platform and increased satisfaction with the new page.

Design system
As a Design System enthusiastic, I collaborated with the DevOps team on enhancing Shutterstock’s Design System. I worked closely with the Design Lead to optimize styles and components, as well as creating new components and variants for required use cases.

Micro interactions
When designing new components, I strove to create seamless interactions by setting states, motion and behaviors for every element, making interactions as smooth as possible.
